Slip-On Wheel Spacers

FAILURE TO CORRECTLY INSTALL THE PRODUCT MAY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF WHEEL(S) WHILE DRIVING.

Titan Wheel Accessories products are intended for off-road or competition use only.

Proper installation is to be performed by a trained technician with sufficient knowledge of these products. The following points are guidelines only.

General Installation Guidelines

  • A torque wrench (no air or power tools) is required for safe and proper installation.
  • Remove all corrosion from the vehicle's hub and rotor using sandpaper, a wire brush, or a wire wheel to ensure correct centering and seating of the spacer.
  • The spacer must seat completely flush against the hub of the vehicle, and the wheel must seat flush against the face of the spacer.
  • Pay close attention to the number of turns achieved on the lug bolt or lug nut.

Minimum Thread Engagement (Turns Required)

  • 12x1.5 — 6.5 minimum turns
  • 12x1.25 — 8 minimum turns
  • 14x1.5 — 7.5 minimum turns
  • 14x2 — 6 minimum turns
  • 1/2"x20 — 8 minimum turns
  • 9/16" — 7.5 minimum turns

Overview

This style of wheel spacer does not have studs pressed in them, so it retains the use of the vehicle's factory wheel studs or lug bolts.

Extended wheel studs or lug bolts may be required to use a slip-on spacer. With the spacers and wheels installed, confirm that enough turns can be achieved on the lug nuts or lug bolts using the thread engagement table above.

Use hand tools only. The use of air or power tools can cause damage to the studs and spacers.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the wheel and clean the vehicle's hub with a wire wheel or brush.
  2. Slide the spacer onto the vehicle's hub and over the wheel studs (if applicable).
  3. Ensure that the spacer seats fully onto the vehicle's hub and that there are no gaps between the spacer and the hub surface.
  4. Re-install the wheel onto the vehicle and ensure that it seats flush against the face of the spacer.
  5. Re-install the original lug nuts or lug bolts and confirm enough turns can be achieved to ensure a secure and safe fit.
  6. Torque the lug nuts or lug bolts to the vehicle manufacturer's torque specification, not exceeding 110 ft-lbs.
  7. Confirm there are no gaps between any of the parts, all lug nuts are torqued to the correct specification, and there is no rubbing or interference between any parts.
  8. Repeat this process for the remaining wheels.

Handling Short Wheel Studs or Lug Bolts

If the wheel studs or lug bolts are too short to achieve the minimum thread engagement, there are two options:

  • Vehicles with lug bolts: Purchase longer extended lug bolts, available from multiple sources online. Contact Titan Wheel Accessories for recommendations.
  • Vehicles with studs and lug nuts: Replace the factory wheel studs with extended aftermarket studs, available online. Contact Titan Wheel Accessories for recommendations.

Do not install slip-on spacers if minimum thread engagement cannot be met. This is a safety-critical requirement.

Par de apriete

All lug nuts/lug bolts used to install wheel spacers must be torqued by hand using a torque wrench. The use of power tools can cause them to be over-torqued or can cause damage to the spacers and studs.

  • Lug nuts or lug bolts securing wheel through spacer: vehicle manufacturer's spec, not to exceed 110 ft-lbs.

If the vehicle manufacturer's torque specification is under 110 ft-lbs, follow that specification.

Re-Torque Schedule

  • After driving with the new spacers for 25 miles, check the torque on all lug nuts/lug bolts again.
  • It is always a good idea to check torque on all lug nuts/lug bolts periodically after installation, and immediately if a new vibration is noticed.

Note: Unlike bolt-on spacers and adapters, slip-on spacers do not have separate hub-side fasteners, so the wheels do not need to be removed during re-torque — re-torquing the wheel lugs directly checks the spacer assembly.

Bolt-On Wheel Spacers and Adapters

FAILURE TO CORRECTLY INSTALL THE PRODUCT MAY RESULT IN THE LOSS OF WHEEL(S) WHILE DRIVING.

Titan Wheel Accessories products are intended for off-road or competition use only.

Proper installation is to be performed by a trained technician with sufficient knowledge of these products. The following points are guidelines only.

Overview

This style of wheel spacers and adapters bolts onto the vehicle's hub using the vehicle's factory wheel studs and the included open-ended lug nuts. They have studs pressed into them, which are used to bolt the wheel onto the spacer using the original or OEM lug nuts.

Use hand tools only. The use of air or power tools can cause damage to the studs and spacers.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the wheel and clean the vehicle's hub with a wire wheel or brush.
  2. Install the spacer or adapter onto the vehicle's hub, sliding it over the vehicle's wheel studs.
  3. Ensure that the spacer or adapter seats fully on the vehicle's hub and that the factory wheel studs do not protrude past the face of the spacer.
  4. Thread the included open-ended lug nuts onto the vehicle's original wheel studs and torque them to the vehicle manufacturer's torque specification, not exceeding 110 ft-lbs.
  5. Install the wheel onto the spacer or adapter, making sure it seats flush against the face of the spacer.
  6. Install the original lug nuts onto the spacer's studs and torque them to the vehicle manufacturer's specification, not exceeding 110 ft-lbs.
  7. Confirm there are no gaps between any of the parts, all lug nuts are torqued to the correct specification, and there is no rubbing or interference between any parts.
  8. Repeat this process for the remaining wheels.

General Installation Guidelines

  • A torque wrench (no air or power tools) is required for safe and proper installation.
  • Remove all corrosion from the vehicle's hub and rotor using sandpaper, a wire brush, or a wire wheel to ensure correct centering and seating of the spacer.
  • The spacer or adapter must seat completely flush against the hub of the vehicle, and the wheel must seat flush against the face of the spacer.

  • 14x2 — 6 minimum turns
  • 1/2"x20 — 8 minimum turns
  • 9/16" — 7.5 minimum turns

Thread Pitch Matching

The wheel spacers or adapters must have studs with a thread pitch that matches the vehicle's studs. If they do not match, additional lug nuts will be required to bolt them onto the vehicle's hub and to secure the wheel onto the spacer or adapter.

Stud Length Considerations

The vehicle's OEM wheel studs may be longer than the spacer is thick. Options if this is the case:

  • The factory wheel studs can be cut/trimmed down or replaced with shorter replacement studs.
  • The wheels may have pockets or cavities between the mounting holes. If these pockets are of sufficient size and shape to accommodate the vehicle's wheel studs, cutting may not be necessary.

Never install wheels onto spacers if the vehicle's factory studs make contact with the back of the wheel. Confirm that the wheel seats completely flat onto the face of the spacer, with no gap between any of the parts.

Par de apriete

All lug nuts used to install wheel spacers must be torqued by hand using a torque wrench. The use of power tools to install lug nuts can cause them to be over-torqued or can cause damage to the spacers and studs.

  • Maximum torque: 110 ft-lbs. If the vehicle manufacturer's torque specification is under 110 ft-lbs, follow that specification.
  • Lug nuts securing the adapters to the hub and the wheels to the adapters: vehicle manufacturer's specification, not to exceed 110 ft-lbs.

Re-Torque Schedule

  • After driving with the new spacers or adapters for 25 miles, check the torque on all lug nuts again.
  • The wheels will need to be removed to check the lug nuts securing the spacer to the hub on bolt-on spacers and adapters.
  • It is always a good idea to check torque on all lug nuts periodically after installation, and immediately if a new vibration is noticed.

Never install wheels onto spacers if the vehicle's factory studs make contact with the back of the wheel. Confirm that the wheel seats completely flat onto the face of the spacer, with no gap between any of the parts.

Overview

This style of wheel adapter is used to convert to a bolt pattern with a different number of lugs than the factory bolt pattern. These adapters have two parts:

  1. An inner base that bolts to the hub of the vehicle.
  2. An outer piece with studs (used to install the wheels) that bolts onto the base of the adapter.

Use hand tools only. The use of air or power tools can cause damage to the studs and spacers.

Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the wheel and clean the vehicle's hub with a wire wheel or brush.
  2. Disassemble the 2-piece adapters by removing the allen screws and separating the two pieces.
  3. Install the inner base part of the adapter onto the vehicle's hub, sliding it over the factory wheel studs.
  4. Install the included open-ended lug nuts onto the vehicle's original wheel studs and torque them to the vehicle manufacturer's specification, not exceeding 110 ft-lbs.
  5. Confirm that the original wheel studs do not protrude past the base part of the adapter. If they do, they must be cut down.
  6. Install the outer piece of the adapter using the included allen bolts.
  7. Torque the allen bolts to 60 ft-lbs by hand using a torque wrench. (Loctite is optional but recommended.)
  8. Ensure there is no gap between the two parts of the adapter. If there is, factory wheel studs will likely need to be cut down.
  9. Paper test: Try to slide a piece of paper between the inner and outer pieces of the adapter. If a piece of paper fits between them, they are not installed correctly and failure will occur.
  10. Install the wheel onto the adapter's studs using the original lug nuts and torque the lug nuts to the vehicle manufacturer's torque specification, not exceeding 110 ft-lbs.
  11. Confirm there are no gaps between any of the parts, all lug nuts are torqued to the correct specification, and there is no rubbing or interference between any parts.
  12. Repeat this process for the remaining wheels.

Handling Protruding Factory Wheel Studs

If the factory wheel studs stick out past the surface of the inner part of the adapter:

  • The factory wheel studs must be cut down or replaced with shorter aftermarket studs.
  • Do not install the wheels if there are any gaps between the two parts of the adapter.
  • Verify the adapter is installed correctly and fully seated onto the hub.
